Pit Bulls lock their jaws, except they don't
One of the more frustrating myths surrounding the American Pit Bull Terrier is that they have a locking jaw.
While a Pit Bull will not let go of something that they really don't want to let go of (locking on to something, which is often abbreviated to locking on), there is not an actual locking mechanism in the jaw of a Pit Bull.
A Pit Bull's jaw is same as any other domestic breed of dog of similar size and build, that is a fact.
Another fact is that Pit Bulls have been developed as a breed to have a determination and persistence not often seen in other breeds. This trait makes them excel in Search and Rescue, bomb and drug sniffing, and dog sports. It also means that if they have a tasty treat and you haven't trained a good "drop it" or "give it" command, you are going to have one heck of a time trying to get them to release their hold.
